Some Honesty and Humility From Atheists

It is seldom for atheists to openly express humility and honesty about the science they worship. To be fair Martin Rees had always seemed to be more humble and nice. Maybe it is his British gentlemen upbringing. Beyond Rees I’ve notice in general there have been more open skepticism about the state of how knowledge of science. Maybe it has always been around but as a layperson I don’t hear a lot of it in the popular media. I have always been skeptical of string theory, multiverse, and quantum mechanics. But now there are serious scientists who are openly challenging these theories. String theory is mostly dead if not completely dead. Multiverse unknowable. Quantum mechanics, we still haven’t really move beyond Schrodinger and the just shut-up can calculate phase. But scientists are finally saying is there really that all that there is. Is there no better understanding of quantum wavefunctions, and entanglement?

Disclosure Day : There Are No Aliens

In Steven Spielberg’s latest movie Disclosure Day is the not so subtle subversive message that if aliens are here on Earth, people and Christians in particular would stop believing in God. That is a ridicules assumption that I am not going to argue in this post, but it is extremely illuminating on the atheist’s psyche of why their obsession with SETI and trying to find extraterrestrial life. In their mind extraterrestrial life in any form, is their holy grail to disproving God.

Hence the latest craze to push the government to acknowledge there are aliens on Earth and they have been hiding the evidence from us. The government is covering up alien bodies and technologies. They have created this circular reasoning, the government is hiding the evidence, if the government don’t release the evidence then we know they are engaged in a cover-up.

Penrose and Fuentes on Gravity and QM

Two renowned theoretical physicists collaborate to analyze an experiment and what that means for quantum mechanics and gravity. I have not posted very much on quantum mechanics on this website, mostly because I don’t understand it or at least accept the current interpretation of the understanding of it. I don’t understand/accept the Copenhagen interpretation of quantum mechanics. At the core I think it is a measurement problem and not an ontological incoherence. But then again, maybe I am just a dumb layman who is just not smart enough to see the King is adorned with a beautiful garment rather than having no clothes.

Penrose had been a longtime skeptic of QM so this interview was fascinating. I’ve included the link to the paper they are referencing below.
